Grab your chalk, shoes, and crash pads because the early summer weather has been perfect for climbing! Recently, I met up with Taylor, an old friend from high-school, who now works the climbing wall at UW-La Crosse to spend the weekend at Devils Lake State Park near Baraboo, WI. Our first day, we hiked around the lake scoping out the best places to boulder, and completed some simple routes to prep for the next day. We awoke early the next morning in anticipation of a full day of climbing. Early in the morning, we bouldered some problems we had seen others doing the day before. About an hour into the day, we met Allen and Beck from The University of Kansas. They’d been climbing around the midwest since they got out of classes the week before. We ended up spending the entire day with these two. It was great to spend the day with others in the climbing community sharing chalk, and routes. As the day came to an end, we headed home exhausted, scratched, and bruised. It was a great weekend! Taylor, Allen, Beck, and I are already planning another climbing trip for later in the summer.

I arrived home to Baileys Harbor, WI on Sunday to heavy winds from the south. So I grabbed my kiteboarding gear and headed to the beach. When I arrived, Red Bull was shooting a promo video of a pro kiteboarder from Hawaii. It was cool to see that out of all the places to go in the world, they chose to make a stop in Baileys.

Get out there and enjoy the great weather!
